it doesn't happen too often that a day starts with speculations wether a deadly virus spreaded or most parts of the world have already been thermonucleary varporised - but that's exactly what i thought when i got to work this morning - and was the only person there! ... thrilled, i checked with heise, slashdot and osnews, but there was no mention of anything major going on. i started wondering wether my selection of information sources would maybe miss the subject, i entered my start work time into kalendar almost automatically - and noticed that today was marked red. ha! maybe there was no global thermonuclear war and/or no instantly, painfully killing virus out there, maybe it's just a holiday! carneval, it said. hey, i remember that! (as you can guess, these observations took place before i had my first 3 cups of coffee. i went for one after this great achievement of saving the worldat least mentally). While i was smoking and slurping my coffee, i tried to remember what associations i have to carneval. That was not a good idea. You see, i lived in Bonn once. it was only for a year - but it inclued carnival. it was horrible. you weren't able to talk to anyone normally for 3 days, even getting a train ticket to get out of there was hard. now let's compare that to vienna. i looked out of the window a few times - no drunk people vomiting. hm. can't be too bad then. in fact, i forgot all day that it's carnival, and only just now remembered it, when writing this. now, if only christmas was to pass that easy, too... back on topic: you may have guessed it: i wasn't just the only one at work - i was the first one! that was a strange feeling.

a few patches later, i decided to try that work-8-hours-a-day-thing, and left for getting microwave-compatible bowels, so i could finally use the tons of instant-microwave-food. the microwave and coffee-machine have a dedicated space now:

it's actually 'assembling' my dinner in that picture.

i used the evil skype again today, calling a friend from ingolstadt and one from berlin later (who's to lazy to write his blog after opening an account a blog.f4k3.net), and also daja even later. i had a quick look at noegnud (a nethack '3D' gui which's link i am too lazy to look up again) and wormux, a worms clone for *nix, which i want to take a closer look at in time (weekend?).

now for some more gilmore girls! i gets better and better, yesterday i was surprised that dr. phlox from enterprise, who plays the role of a teacher (a minor side track) in gilmore girls, looks completely different in his 'human' body ;)
